What this site covers
Wild Sauna UK is a guide to two halves of the same hobby. On one side, the rapidly growing scene of public wild sauna venues across Britain — mobile sauna trucks at the coast, lochside cabins in Scotland, beach saunas in Wales and the south-west, and forest events booked weeks in advance. On the other, the home sauna market — barrel saunas tucked into back gardens, indoor cubicles squeezed into bathrooms, outdoor cabins built on properly poured slabs, and the heaters and accessories that decide whether the result is a proper sauna or an expensive hot box.
The aim is plain: explain how UK sauna culture actually works in 2025 — what each type of venue is like, what each type of home sauna costs once you account for delivery and electrics, and which retailer claims survive a bit of scrutiny.
What this site is — and isn't
Wild Sauna UK is an editorial / research resource. We read manufacturer spec sheets, certification standards, retailer terms, and long-form UK owner threads. We pull venue information from operators' own published sources (websites, booking systems, official social channels) and cite where we got it. Where we have not personally sat in a particular sauna or visited a particular venue, we say so clearly — the guides describe the kit and the experience based on documented sources, not invented first-hand experiences.
What we don't do: fabricate testimonials, invent reviewers, claim qualifications we don't have, or copy phrasing from other sauna sites. We don't run press trips. We don't accept paid placements for venue listings or product picks. Most sauna content on the open web is either retailer-owned or affiliate-stuffed; this site is intended to be the alternative.
How recommendations are made
For home saunas, the methodology is laid out on the homepage and in detail on our editorial policy — specifications first, real-owner signal, total cost including UK-specific extras, and UK-context filters (planning, Part P electrics, weather). For wild sauna venues, we list operators that have operated consistently and have a verifiable booking channel; we don't list pop-ups we can't reach the operator of.
